5/8/2024 0 Comments If Tomorrow Never ComesMy apologies to all Beacon of Light followers for taking so long to post a new devotional or an update on the ministry's activities. Life happens, as the old expression goes. Days pass with a multitude of problems, concerns, projects and suddenly you realize that some of the most important stuff was put on the back burner. Tomorrow, I will attend to getting such and such done, we say. However, as the title of this blog states, what if tomorrow never comes?

4/13/2022 0 Comments But SUNDAY IS COMINGHoly week is now in progress, having started with Palm Sunday. . .This week creates a multitude of emotions ranging from sadness, guilt, repentance, to over-whelming joy. Let's summarize these different feelings, and hopefully, recognize how to deal with each emotion.
4/2/2022 0 Comments Dry Bones Can Live! There’s no doubt that the past two+ years have been trying and challenging to say the least. The lack of social interactions – be that work, family or church-related - has taken its toll on many people’s mental health. A shocking number of folks have been overshadowed by a clouded mindset of “It’s never going to get better or be any different”. As a result, a general malaise and attitude towards giving up on life (as we once knew it) seems to be the order of the day. Especially sad is the fact that even Christians and churches are falling prey to this dilemma.

I feel sure we all sense that troublesome times are indeed here, and not likely to improve as time goes on. We could possibly be drawing close to what the Bible calls the last days. Regardless, it is important that we have the answer to the above question settled once and for all. The answer is provided for us in scripture. When Nicodemus came to Jesus by night to ask Him how one must be saved, Jesus answered, you must be born again . . .
Wow! We have been on a roller coaster that doesn’t seem to want to stop. The past two years have certainly had their share of problems. The ongoing Covid-19 scare has taken front and center stage with no immediate signs of giving up its place of prominence. The media is alive and thriving with stories related to the virus and its many off-springs. What to believe? The media, the super hype conspiracy theorists, the government, friends and foe are all clamouring for attention with their many different viewpoints. Everyone is reeling under the weight of it all. Hope is shattered in many as they crumble under the crush of financial difficulties, family issues, health and mental concerns, and a barrage of other worries. The constant bombardment of “to be or not to be "vaxxed” is the question of the day. What to do? Where to turn? Who to trust? – all these questions seem to be upper most in everyone’s minds. And now the new year is obviously starting off the same way the old one ended, with no immediate relief in sight from the lurking virus(s). Everything has changed so drastically in every area of life as we once knew it – how we shop, where we work or attend school, our circle of family/friends, and most importantly, where we worship. 7/28/2020 0 Comments Cowardice or ChristSubmitted by: Pauline Cole & Pastor Charles Allen
Fast forward a few years. That bullied child is now a growing child in Christ. The now grown adult ponders their spiritual growth, on a metaphorical check list:

[21] When he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who sang to the LORD and those who praised Him in holy attire, as they went out before the army and said, "Give thanks to the LORD, for His lovingkindness is everlasting." [22]When they began singing and praising, the LORD set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were routed.
For those who are not familiar with this story from 2nd Chronicles, a huge army had come against the Israelites. The combined enemy forces were a ferocious military juggernaut, who certainly in the natural, would have soundly defeated them. However, King Jehoshaphat consulted The Great I Am. The Lord instructed the King to send all the singers FIRST -- the singers were to lead the Israelite army out. As they sang praises to Almighty God, the enemy was completely vanquished. Read all of 2nd Chronicles, chapter 20, to get the full story. As is often the case, and also seen throughout history, differing factions will collect themselves in opposition to God and His people. Keys come in many different shapes and sizes. We too, are all different in that humans are not a “one size fits all” species. Have you ever heard the old expression, “unlock the key to my heart”? This colloquialism clearly denotes that every heart requires its own ‘secret somethin’ in order for it (the heart) to open itself up to love and relationship.
